I'm super excited to announce Soap for a Cause. I believe it is important to give back and do what you can to help make the world a better place. I've wanted to use my skill as a soap maker to help charities, foundations, local food pantries, shelters, basically anyone in need, but I could never quite figure out exactly how I could use my soap making skills to do so--until recently.

Soap for a Cause will be an annual event. Every February I will choose a different charities that help those in need (whether it's through research, providing a service, helping educate, or helping people or animals in need in some meaningful way). I will make a series of themed soaps and 100% of the profit will be donated to that charity. If it's possible for me to donate actual products (on top of the soap sales) or donate my time in some way I will also do that. And hopefully, in some small way, it will help make a difference.

This year I will be making a series of animal themed soaps that will help support the Northeast Coonhound Rescued.

A little about NECR:  Northeast Coonhound Rescue is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to the welfare and rescue of coonhounds, hound mixes, and beagles.  We transport dogs from the southern and midwestern states to New England, New York and New Jersey to find their forever homes.  We promote the coonhound breeds in the Northeast and provide educational information to potential adopters.  We also provide referrals to coonhounds available through shelters and other rescues in New England.

I grew up with pets (an am still surrounded by family pets today).  I've known Dave, who helps run NECR, for many years now and he dedicates so much of his time to this organization.  Like most animal rescues they can always use financial support and so I hope in some small way this will help NECR.  Please check out the link above if you'd like to learn more!
